Sunday, fun-day

Time runs ahead of us like a kid fixated on an ice cream truck.

And, as much as I love summer—that guy is the #1 culprit for losing time.
I say this with all positive intentions, vibes & another manners—I just want to shed a little light on this concept of time that has so many of us bound down.
A short & sweet post for today but, I just need to share a thought that came to my mind on the beach yesterday.

Sundays—a day most people use to catch up on paper work, yard work, house work, school work...you catch my drift.
Or a day people also use to kick back and spend a fun-day in the sun, by the beach/pool, drink in hand, just simply letting time pass.
Or a day spent at church (and ya know the occasional brunch afterwards), where no work is involved after because it is the sabbath—a day of rest and spending time to worship God.

Either way you spend your Sunday is A-OK with me—but I encourage you today, to go somewhere quiet & alone.

Find a place where you can relax and quietly retreat into your own thoughts.
We spend so much of our time doing, doing, doing—and not enough time in complete serenity and meditation on our thoughts.

I'm leaving you with a thought today for your later peace & quiet time—and go kick back on this Sunday, fun-day.

"You're my place of quiet retreat, I wait for your word to renew me."
Psalms 119:114

Colors of the sea

Another day, another work outfit.

I'm having a ball getting dressed up for work these days.
My past history of cutting pizzas, pouring wine, and bussing tables are over—bring on the silk.

It was nearly deserted for a summers evening in Watch Hill—but a killer sunset, sand, and the quaint town...no complaints here.

What I'm wearing;

Top—Talbots
Skirt—J. Crew
Shoes—Talbots
Earrings—Forever 21
Ring—A place similar to Heaven I imagine

Red, white & blue

Red, White, & Blue

The 4th is coming!

Dig out all of your red, white & blue, patriotic paraphernalia, and start slicing up the watermelon and might as well heat up the grill because the 4th of July is closer than you think.

In a little over a week it's definitely safe to say, the whole nation will be saying Happy 4th of July.

I personally will be working, so I'm replacing my flag sunnies and red/white/blue bikini for a more work appropriate—but still July 4th appropriate—attire.

I put together a couple options above, that can easily go from cookout to clerk and even fireworks on the beach.

Click the link below to find out where the pieces are from!

Happy shopping & Happy 4th preparations!

Farm fresh

We came, We tasted, we conquered.

Reason #78334 why I'm smitten with summer, are because of the farmer's markets.

My mom and I hit up a local one this weekend and walked away with some farm fresh goodies—goat cheese spread, fresh grape tomatoes, eggs & even micro kale.

It's just the hip and in thing to shrink everything down to mini size nowadays huh?!
All in all—it's fabulous.

Now, you might not know this about me but I am a little bit of a nutty-crunchy-granola-health-nut—OK I'm over a barrel—I have a drawer full of super foods, juice my own green juice, and don't you dare mention coconuts around me cause I could talk your ear off...I love that stuff.

So, let's just say that farmer's markets, give me a similar excitement of a J. Crew—just in a different environment.

More than that though, it's an experience.
Picking out your own produce, taste testing each morsel at each table, & enjoying the great outdoors.
I encourage you all to go up to that search bar and find the closest farmer's market to you & give it a whirl this weekend.

Whale of a time

I'm having a whaley good day.

It's not on porpoise—I fish you would keep reading.
Don't be a party grouper, or a squider.
Oh buoy—enough nautical & sea creature puns—but I'm sardine to think of new ones!

I guess that's what happens when I love the Vineyard Vines whale too too much.

I got this clutch from Vineyard Vines back in the Spring and well, it has gone with just about everything—the sure sign of a good bag.

Nothing like a cute bag—that will kelp any day.

Golden hour

From beach to work, then work to beach.

That's a rough outline of my summer itinerary.
I closed up shop last night, slipped off my shoes immediately and made a B line to—come on take one guess—the beach.

I had another one of those "wow I'm growing up" moments, as I mounted up the big sandy hill.
I now walk up with ease, and joy—compared to my 5 year old self who would do a little bit of whimpering for mom to wait up for me.

Anyway—standing up there, like king of the hill, was invigorating.

Now, I'm a sucker for great lighting—so the golden hour makes me incredibly happy.
I mean, to the point where my creative muse hits the roof—people probably think I'm crazy as I jump around and look as thrilled as a little girl meeting Cinderella at Disney World.

But I mean, can you blame a girl?! Just look at that light!

Gettin crafty

Summer time calls for crafting.

This morning was not the beach weather I was hoping for so I took the day to scratch some things off of my DIY list.

I picked up this giant clothes pin from a free yard sale held by my church—yes everything there was in fact free.

There was something quirky and cool about the clothes pin—but not the plain wood.
So I broke out my brushes and dug out some spray paint and voila—a neat new desk accessory.
