Casual Friday

Snow + a bad hair day...gimme a baseball hat.

I managed to slip out of NYC this past weekend just in the nick of time before dun dun dun, Juno slammed us here in Providence.

Many thanks to you, Juno, with those two snow days you let me catch up sleep, school work and more importantly a whole lotta Pinterest pinning.

Back to reality it was though as campus trudged through ankle deep slush and weaved through mounds of snow taller than our creepy Friar mascot...google it right now, Friar Dom, just do it.

He is kinda cute though too, can't you agree?! Just a smidgen...maybe?

Anyway, today definitely called for a hat as the snow started to fall again in Friartown and let's just ignore the subject matter of my hair today while we're on it.

Black jeans, a white tee tucked in and a baseball hat—now that's quick thinking & chic looking.

I'll be honest, (WARNING: I'm going to be a negative Nancy here for a second) I'm SoOooOoo over winter.
I mean the layers, the slush, the red nose with watery eyes, I've got the winter blues you could say.

A beautiful blanket of white snow does help ease the winter pain though—an endless, untouched, blank canvas with new flakes quietly falling, subduing all the craziness and noise around.

But...who wants to start a spring count down with me?!

I'll start...49 days folks...only 49 to go.

Winter Whites

Order, order!

I rule that white can be worn year round and that the "no white to be worn after Labor Day" law is abolished.

White is undeniably my favorite color.
& yes it does count as a color—regardless of what four year olds have to say so about it.

I spent my Sunday slipping and sliding around the ice around downtown Providence—you might be looking at my shoe choice and thinking to your self, "well no wonder why—does she know what season it is?!"

Two things to that—one yes I do know it's winter.
& two—to my defense—I had no boots to wear!

Don't worry a quick trip to the mall helped me solve that one.
& out I walked with not just any ordinary below the knee pair of boots but instead over the knee.

Yup. Prettttty bad-girl if you ask me—I'm lovin' the edge feel they give me.

Beside my cold toes the rest of me was warm as a cinnamon-bun.

My Woolrich coat is a special (and quite needed) something that I bought for myself when I was in NYC the other week.
Let me be the first to tell you too...it is possibly the best thing I ever bought.

Uh huh, I am dead serious.
I actually take the long route on the way to class now just cause I can—all while staying warm and dry from the wintery mixes.

& wearing white, while walking in a winter white wonderland, now that sounds just fabulous.

When in New York

Eat Lobster? Don't have to tell me twice

Pretty slush...?

Follow your heart...or your stomach.

Especially when in New York.
There is no better way to work up an appetite than with exploring.

I spent day two wandering around SoHo, NoHo, the Lower East side and Little Italy.

New York is chock full of great restaurants, cafes, bars and eats.
And not to mention the great shopping they have packed in between there.

The best way to taste & try or discover & experience new places, is to just get out there and walk...and walk and walk and walk.

& that's just what we did the other week,
We walked, we talked, we sipped around a half a dozen cups of coffee.
We revisited some classics and tried some new eats—we followed our stomachs and filled our heart with some wonderful memories.

Heaven on Earth

I think I died and went to couture heaven.

If I had a choice as to what my paradise would be—I'd say bring me to Saks Fifth Avenue—NOW.

I have just come home from a  couple days spent in New York City and let me be the first to say, Saks absolutely nailed it with the feminine & ladylike (or just flat out gorgeous) pieces for spring.

I was a kid in a candy store.

I did not skip one floor or one square foot of the mega department store dream.
It actually felt as if I was floating from floor to floor, waltzing between the mannequins in their beautiful ball gowns and get-ups.

It. was. exquisite.

I still am swooning over the entire stores set-up—it truly was a dream to me.

Guess I need to starting saving some pennies because that Chloè dress will be mine.
Or maybe the Valentino one??

Town hopping

I'm a proud nutmegger.

No, not like a cotton headed ninny muggins like Elf.
A proud born and raised Connecticut-an or is it Connecticut-er ?

Either or, I am in love with my state.
The small costal towns nestled in between the nooks and crannies of the shore line, not wasting one square inch of real-estate.
The picturesque old sailing towns down in my corner of the square state are my all time favorite.

The quaint captains houses line the street ways one after another—cute as ever.
There is something special about my home to me, the amount of history in New England alone is something any Yankee should be proud of.

There is always a hidden gem around in one of the CT corners, and I'll happily be the one to go run and find it.
