Beautiful disaster

Touring ruins requires imagination.

Welcome to Turkey.

Today on the agenda we have the ruins of Ephesus—home of Paul back in the AD 50's, and one of the seven cities named in the book of Revelation (i.e. a strong church & a place worth seeing).  

It was hot, not a cloud in sight, still air, and future notice to my adventurists, Turkey does not have many trees—bring that adventure hat.

Regardless of the heat—which sorta made it more "authentic" to ancient times—I had to use some imagination while touring the ruined city.

Walking along uneven paths, in and out of rocky crumbles that were once homes, a library, and the "hot hang out place", it was hard to imagine the city in full contact and full of life back then.

To me, it was insane to think that Paul—who i've read about in my Bible since I was a little girl—had walked on these same stones that I was stepping on.

It was baffling, but unforgettable for me to stand at the center of the theater, where Paul also stood, fearless, proud, and thrilled to be sharing the good news to the Ephesians. 

I still try to wrap my head around the fact at what exceptional courage he had—something and someone to truly admire.

Well, it's Sunday—also meaning a little uplifting inspo to start your week.

I'm selecting something from Ephesians because it's only appropriate.

Oh yeah, those poppy petals smushed in my passport in the photo above I uh—let's not say I stole—but I took them as a keepsake of my adventure to Ephesus.

I moved those petals into my Bible to mark my favorite verse in Ephesians,

"Lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

Always be humble and gentle. 

Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love.

Make every effort to keep yourself united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace."

Ephesians 4:1-3
